Signs your central heating needs a power flush

July 10, 2026

Over the years, radiators and pipework collect sludge, rust and debris. This build up slows circulation, creates cold spots and makes the boiler work harder than it should. A power flush clears it out and restores even, efficient heat.

Common warning signs

Watch for radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, rooms that never quite heat up, banging or gurgling pipes, cloudy or dirty water when you bleed a radiator, and a boiler that frequently cuts out.

Why it is worth doing

Clearing the system improves circulation, quietens the pipework, lowers running costs and helps extend the life of the boiler. It is often recommended alongside a new boiler so the fresh unit is protected from old debris.

Is it always the answer?

Not always. Sometimes the fix is simpler, such as balancing radiators or replacing a valve. That is why we assess the system first and only recommend a flush when it will genuinely help.
